Can you say "Tiny Parts"? I started on the bridge section of the USS Nicholas and added the first bits of photo-etch. The PE is very nice but very fragile as well. I also started on the weapons suite as well. I got the bow Standard SAM launcher built and the kit comes with a tiny missile to place on it. I also assembled the MK 32 torpedo launchers and began work in the radar array. Best wishes, Ian

That is awesome Ian! And yes, I CAN say "tiny parts": I build all my ships in 1/700 scale!

Everyone, I have run into a horrible problem with the Academy kit photo-etch while doing some of the installations on the superstructure. Most of the large photo-etch rail pieces are etched too short and are not lining up with the angles on the deck and superstructure. When I go to re-bend them to match the deck angles, the pieces of photo etch are disintegrating. Several large pieces of rail have come apart and are not fixable at this point. I am going to shelve this for the time being and if I come across some good aftermarket PE for this one I will revisit it later. I am going to send this thread to the parking lot and open a new thread for Plan B which will be really cool. Sorry guys!
Regards,
Ian
