Thanks fellas appreciated. The 10% that’s troubling me is more to do with myself really, and trying to find a superglue that actually works properly. To explain, I didn’t look far ahead enough with instructions, or too far and made some silly mistakes that I had to ‘bodge’ around. Also my inexperience with photo etch hindered me a lot. Then perhaps a misunderstanding with how to use superglue and photo etch ended up with me discarding some etch and using the plastic parts. Overall I’m happy, just know that next time, and with a bit more thinking on my part, I can improve and do better.

To be honest I can't stand that sodding PE, it always gives me a hard time. But, when I get it folded correctly and attach it to the build, I always use Loctite 454 which a gel and slower setting, or Loctite 401 which is ferkin fast acting glue. They are expensive, but they do last a fare while if kept at room temp

Looks amazing to me old chap, one I'd be extremely proud of if I actually managed to build to that standard. A really beautiful model.

They are expensive, but they do last a fare while if kept at room temp The PE is not the problem it’s the glue and my lack of prep work probably. I tried thick and thin ZAP A GAP glues, but they just gave me a real fragile bond that would break if I sneezed near it. My son recommended Gorilla superglue, which I tried. Quite thick but seems to work well, so I finished it with that. I probably need to get into habit of cleaning PE first with some sort of degreaser. Cheers Smudge 👍

I find a fibreglass pen works well with etch to clean it before gluing. I just lightly scrub the parts on the fret then wash it in soapy water before removing parts.
