Looks good to me Steve . I think you should be on the safe side with that camo, I have seen some schemes where it is very highly placed on the fuse side.

Cheers chaps First the positives: The Tamiya paints performed very well as always, even on the faintest fuselage mottling. Decals are well printed and conform nicely to the details. Now negatives: The plastic Airfix used on this edition has all the strength of the last slither of wet soap. The undercarriage pins just snap as soon as fit the holes. The hole for the antenna is 6x larger than the mis-moulded thing that Airfix provide. In short this is not a good kit. All of this I can fix but I should have bought the Tamiya kit in the first place. The paint masks I bought at the same time as the kit from KV Models are made of a vinyl. You are instructed to stick the mask on your skin a few times before fitting to the kit to reduce the adhesive. This I did but they stilk stuck like brown stuff to a woolly blanket, when I did get them off they left a horrible glue residue. Not even warm water with washing up liquid moved it. Only option was IPA which also took off the Tamiya paint leaving the grey lacquer primer. Nuts! Here's where I leave this now
Again I can fix it, maybe by buying Eduard masks but I'm Not sure I have the enthusiasm to push on turning yet another Airfix 2nd rate effort into something I want in my cabinet. Especially as that will cost me more than I paid for the kit in 2018. I think this is my preference this afternoon

Shame as it looks very nice but as you say sometimes the hammer is the only option.

Guys I don't see a problem from here, I only see a nicely painted plane and one ugly hammer. Steve, can't you retouch it after a couple of days ? I'm sure you can brushpaint the canopy with use of masking tape. Don't make the paint too thin and you'll save this beauty, I really like how it looks mate.

Steve, sorry you had that issue with the masks. That must have been some heavy adhesive because usually pulling them off cloth or skin will reduce the tack. But I think the plane looks excellent and as Guy said, can be saved with some touch-ups in a few days. Save the hammer for a bad HobbyBoss kit.

It looks pretty good in the photos, Steve. Rather than hit it with the hammer, give it to some young lad to enjoy. That’s how I got stated years ago. I bought three old kits a at school summer fate.

Cheers all. I've been away working for the last few days and had a chance to review.. no hammer. I'll push it over the line this week.

You have made a great job painting your 109, Steve despite of the errors with the kit.

Steve I am glad that you haven't hammered this one. After all it's only the paint that suffered, and not a really bad fit issue like had .

I'm glad you didn't hammer this as well. I think it is a beautiful job! If the urge to hammer hits again, PM me for my address; I'd be thrilled to take that off your hands.
