Steady as she goes... Best kit I've built...ever. Top class engineered. I picked a lovely colour scheme, yellow nose and tail, hard and soft edge camo.

Joe I can't answer your question but I'm afraid even Tamiya can't beat this level of razor sharp detail and fit of parts. I checked your build seconds ago and yours looks just as good as this one, let's call it a draw Maybe Paul or other chaps have the answer.

Now she's starting to take shape . I told you Eduard have the best 109's on the market Out of interest , Paul. Are they better than the Tamiya G-6? Joe, that is in my honest opinion, a question of taste and what you want. The cost is also very important, the Tamiya kit is roughly £44. The Eduard base kit is about £20. I have had a look the Tamiya G6 on super hobby as I don't have that kit, it looks good. You get a canopy mask, which looks like it needs cutting out, there's an engine integrated with additional MG station, separate engine cowls to show the engine, a pilot, and Tamiya have finally added the missing fuel line to the cockpit. The seat harness and IP are decals, and you get two aircraft decal options. All sounds and looks good. Now the Eduard base kit (Weekend Edition) which I do have, has the level of detail as the Tammy kit. But it does lack the engine and pilot. There are however, 3 aircraft decal options, 3 different props for the decal options, two canopy options, underwing gunpod option. Now, if I really want to show the engine, I can get that for £17 from Eduard. This is a complete DB601 with MG station and a few bitz of photo-etch. That brings us up £37. If you don't want that, but wish for more detail in the cockpit and better exhausts for the engine, you can get another Eduard set which has the following and costs about £17 (Löök+ 644060) (still cheaper than the Tamiya kit) : PE harness PE Exhaust cover 3D printed IP panel (coloured) New wheels T-Face canopy mask, pre-cut As much as I like Tamiya for their ease of building, I would and have gone for the Eduard option and, added the Löök+ kit to it. I hope this answers your question .

Thank you, Paul. That was a very detailed response. It looks like the Eduard kit is the one to go for. Thanks again for the advice.

LOL Guy, I thought maybe something was wrong with the kit, I know a master like yourself wouldn't brake it . Have fun in Ypres, must go myself one day

Ypres is a must visit, not only for the history, also for the beer and food.

It's a pleasure Ian. I'm back and my goal is to finish the build of Me 109E1 today. The kit landing gear was used instead of the brilliant resin one as the fine start shaped wheel parts crumbled despite a new scalpel blade. No worries however, it looks pretty good imo.
