Got to use a brand new blade to cut through the decals, I'll do it after the flat coat is done unless I hear otherwise

Wow thank you
Must say again Airfix have got to take the credit for this kit, It would be had to not make a nice job of it
The decal and painting instructions sheets are on A3 coloured paper, one for each marking option and then there is an A3 sheet for all the very small stencils. All the engine parts are on the same sprue as are all the cockpit parts so it makes building really easy, Airfix really have pushed the boat out on this one, and they reckon the Protare kit is better, amazing

I found a good sized picture frame that will make a good base and ordered some grass to cover it, a club member told me put them on a grass base and it really makes the model pop, so I'm on it Still no flash Can't work it out

Beautiful work Robbo, you're turning out a stunning Spitfire there.
The maple leaf denoted all Canadian squadrons. They all had a red leaf, as the flag.
Johnny Johnson said from his memory the one on his Spit' was green. That might have been just for his aircraft or he got it wrong.. maybe he was colourblind.. who knows. Airfix went with his memory.
There's also talk that there was a Squadron Leader pendant on the other side, did Airfix include that?

Awesome work, Robbo! Wing Cmdr. Johnson would be proud of this project. I've heard the same thing about the color of the Maple Leaf pendant; Red or Green? .....and we will probably never know. If this is EN398, that was believed to be one of his favorite airframes to fly during the Mk. IX tenure. I want to build his bubble top Mk. XIV from '45, one of these days. However, the RR Griffon Spits don't sound as cool as the RR Merlins. The Merlin is like a perfectly tuned symphony. The Griffon sounds like a DeWalt concrete drill and some kind of witchcraft chant.🤣🤣🤣

Thanks with the info fellas, makes a build more interesting when you've got a bit of history behind it Steve I know the flash you speak of and no it's not in the kit
