Guy, I think you did a great job of capturing the look of the real thing. This stuff was quickly applied in less than ideal manufacturing settings and you replicated the look very well.

Thank you Ian, it was a pretty rough job to obtain a smooth "finish".😄
Thank you Paul, it's fun to brush on this putty effect.

Thanks Bootsbro, it baffled me to see that literally everything was puttied up, even the gun bay hatches, the grip handle for the pilot ...

What was the reason for all the putty........don`t mean to sound thick if i`m missing something obvious but i don`t really follow wingy stuff all that much.......any info appreciated

Ok Boots, you don''t sound thick. I'm by far not placed to give a complete explanation but the putty was added to smoothen the surface of fuselage and wings, in order to increase the jet's speed. But...another source says it wasn't putty but a preservative paint (against sea salt).

Looks just like the pictures, well done! And I guess it makes sence, filling all the seams, the smoother the surface the higher the speed will be..

Thanks Bert and Joe, it's always a pleasure to see you jump by. Bert, I think nobody can tell for 100% what it was, putty or a preservative paint, I don't bother. I just try to replicate what the pictures show and at the same time I like to increase contrast and other effects. There's a lot more to do, I'm barely in the middle of the fuselage acrylic paint job. [/url

Thank you Ian and Tommy. I brushed on a tad of worn red in a serpentine-ish fashion onto the nose cone. A small splash of colour never hurts. One of the gun bay hatches was given a worn coat of grey, as if it was a donor hatch. I followed the hairspray method to get this effect and it was sealed with a coat of Clear gloss. Appearantly the seams were roughly filled with a grey putty, and then again roughly covered with a preservative paint which was dark grey/green-ish. Difficult and outside my comfort zone but I do whatever I can to keep this birdie out of the bin.😅😄

I've always heard it was putty to smooth the airflow over the surface. Not sure why it would need protection from sea salt?
Anyway, your paint looks totally spot on!

Thank you my friend! The seasalt part sounds silly indeed, however the photo below seems to show the grey putty and dark paint brushed onto it. I guess it will remain subject of discussion on other sites.
