Looking rather tidy in primer I was so pleased that Tamiya released one as I’ve toyed with the idea of getting the Bronco one but wasn’t sure I’d enjoy building it. The Bronco kit is relatively easy build, I did one when it was first released and really enjoyed it. The only letdown were the tracks, they were made of something like Dragon DS material and the feckers melted after a few months. Obviously they didn't take well to enamel paint. This re-release has styrene tracks so that shouldn't happen again.

Well some progress today with making my base colour U.K. armour mix, basically olive green with deep green, and I’ve cracked open the AB for the first time in a lot of months. It was a bit of a struggle as it wasn’t painting that well. It could be I’m a bit out of practice with my normal mix but after doing the lower hull and wheels it’s into the sonic bath to give it a few cycles for a deep clean!

Oh a picture and the bright light shows up some of the coverage issues.

Can`t really see any issues if i`m honest and if there are then the next stages will take care of that..........the colour is very nice

Can`t really see any issues if i`m honest and if there are then the next stages will take care of that..........the colour is very nice I did want a bit more of a vibrant green but I didn’t wouldn’t to go too dark as I find it overpowers the model and everything darkens down after weathering as well. Oh and I did a bit of that therapeutic tire painting, just the return rollers to do then some highlighting (it always pretty much disappears but I insist on doing it anyway), a bit of a dark wash, some pigments, I’m going for a somewhat dusty look, and finally a bit of grease and oil. This must be getting back in the saddle!

Definately sounds like a mojo boost being as you have it all planned out so far

Looks really nice, and yes, painting and weathering makes it your model, the kit itself may have been bought and built by many people but nobody will paint and weather it like you do it..

Well that was a close call, I just spent a good five minutes trying to find my glasses until I thought, well they’re turn up so until then I put my old pair with a slightly broken frame on. That’s when I realised I was wearing my glasses!

Absolutely it makes sense.....i model to please me , maybe what i build isn`t every body`s cup of tea but that`s the individuals choice, as you know i build a variety of genres but i do favour the `heavy/worn` weathered look and i enjoy mixing things up a bit on the weathering side.....it`s good practice/fun etc, and as you quite rightly say........it`s your model!........stick your own stamp on it as such

It can feel a bit like that they are pushing you down a route of, buy all this stuff and then it’s paint by numbers to get a finished model that looks just like mine.
