That's a cool picture Carl . I bet it was a fantastic home for you all. Here's some stuff I found on Youtube about the Gneisenau and her sister ship the Scharnhorst

Boots it was good time . 30 months on a western Pacific tour , home ported out of Yokusaka , Japan . Paul I believe that pic was taken @ Long Beach California right after she was retrofitted as a CLG .Thanks for the vids mate . Ian I never got tired of serving on her . We went to about 20 to 25 far east Pacific ports during our tour .

Carl, no prob fella . Marco, doesn't matter if you're late sir, there's still plenty to do here . Okay chaps, to be honest with you I feel like a total ferkin newbie to hobby building this . I have made so many mistakes, I shouldn't have added any of the upper-decks, the masts or the PE before painting before hand. But if I had have gone that way, then there would have been a few gaps that would be seen . Anyway after painting the main-deck and ship grey twice (the second time, using about the same amount of masking as Carl on his Puma ), she looks like this. The A and B artillery (main and secondary) has yellow topped turrets, because this model represents the January 1941 layout more than anything else. Even that isn't accurate . Next I'll try and get some washes on the upper decks and main deck, the hardest part will be removing the excess which isn't needed .

Very good looking already . Those yellow turret tops stand out . That must of been a good wad of masking tape you used if it was anything like what I used on the Puma

The taperism payed off Paul, you've done a superb job so far. How did you glue on the long railings without making a mess on deck ? And what typ'o ca glue did you use ? The yellow turrets aren't they accurately painted this way ?

Very impressive fella B) as for the wash, how about wet brush on dry brush off? I use that method on my 1/72 wings where I don’t want to flood the detail

Guy, cheers mucker . The CA I use is Loctite 401, and believe me there are one or spots which hit the deck . To add the glue I use a chiseled sowing needle, the point has been ground down so that it looks like a sharp pointed chisel, can't get a better picture than this: The turret tops were actually painted like this on the Jan '41 layout, here's the other colour schemes, if this was 1/350 I might have gone for the mottled scheme: Pete, patience is the word fella and I nearly lost once, the ferker slipped out of my hand and landed on my lap. Both main masts broke off and needed some careful repair work . Boots, your words be so true mucker . Marco, thankyou indeed my Brazilian bro .
