My entry to the GB is tamiya's Corolla. This will be out of the box so should be pretty straight forward. It's been a LONG time since I last built a car kit so the learning curve may be steep!

Not after a long day on the road with all the dust (summer) sheite and bullets (winter) etc. Very hard to find a shiney one unless it has just left service after a little TLC and a quick wash and comb of the hair. Cheers guys, well I made a start last night by identifying every part that needed to be painted white & cleaned them up. The bodyshell had some very fine mold lines that took some careful sanding to remove. I'll now wash & prime these parts ready for a good coat of appliance white from a rattle can then let it cure for a couple of weeks. I'm unsure what to use for a final gloss coat once the decals are on so any suggestions would be very helpful.

Very nice start Pete . If I hadn't have used the VMS gloss before, I'd say use enamels. But the VMS gloss is good, it dry dries fast which is certainly going to be major advantage for this.

Cheers Carl another option is always a good idea. Right another mega priming session today and all the parts are now primed. I sprayed the bodyshell with a bit of grey first to check for any missed mould lines then went back over this with white primer. As usual I'll leave it a few days then flat down the body with ultra fine sandpaper to remove any blemishes in the primer coat. I'm now waiting for some paints to arrive and a lacquer gloss varnish from zero paints which I think will be fine. WRC COROLLA by pete smith, on Flickr WRC COROLLA by pete smith, on Flickr

oh wow Carlos Sainz and Didier Auriol rides of the end of the 90's! For me the best WRC era with Collin McRae. Good to see one being built. Nice start mate!

Wow Pete there's a lot stuff in that kit . Looks that way doesn't it? But actually there's not much there at all when you look at it. Most of the parts are for the drive train & suspension plus the interior. Lucky they are no tiny fiddly bits to deal with. Painting is going to be in blocks, i.e the white areas, semi gloss black areas etc, so I think it will come together quite quickly once everything is painted and the body is decaled up and glossed.
