I think Ade's new AK paint is different to that in the plastic bottle (Mig/Vallejo style). It certainly sounds it by the way Ade has explained . Good point about the primer, I have never used these paints without it and certainly never will now .

Yeah Ade's new paint is the AK real colour, doing some research into it, it seems to slot nicely into the gaps of other brands with a greater flexibility of thinners etc (as Ade said in his blog regarding Tamiya thinner)
Just about to upload some images of the C15TA which did receive a coat of primer, see the difference!

Outstanding progress, Vlad. Glad to hear you're getting the paint situation figured out. Primer does make a big difference with some paints. I've noticed Vallejo works a lot better over primer.

Thanks Jeff, I usually do shoot some primer, but this time due to poor weather, lazyness and speed plus thickness of paint I decided not too. The black has actually levelled out a lot now its cured properly.

Vlad said "Maybe I should do what some of the competition and modelling experts do and farm it out to someone who can paint" Ahem, well I think I can certainly help you out in THAT respect young man.....I'll hold the box of tickets whilst you draw one out!! Soz to hear about yer base colour issues....no biggie, shiny will hide it and if that don't work, weathering will hide it, if that don't work stowage will hide it, if that don't help, shut the feckin' hatches!!!

Shiny! Vallejo model air steel. a good place to start I felt, it will darken a little with washes, now some detail work. Paint sprayed well, evenly without causing issues, went were I wanted it too rather than just hitting high spots etc, a little drying on the needle at smaller spray patterns, all straight from the bottle, could do with a touch of thinner. The brass was a lot thinner and required several coats but other than that quite pleased with the metallics so far. just trying to work out colour comparisons now for S.C.C.15 etc etc etc

Guy, smudge, Jeff thanks fellas, it was something I had some trepidation about, painting is not my strongest skill and this amount of metallic filled me with fear.

So I've been busy the last few days quietly slapping some colour on the innards, still a few touch ups to do and then start weathering, probably a wash and some dust, I'm not sure that some of the vehicles we see modelled are not over weathered? be good to hear others opinions on this. Anyway, here's were I'm up too at present. Fire extinguishers were painted with a mix of Vallejo brass and a touch of bronze, gives a slightly different tone to the shells. This is metallic black, and looks like it works well to represent that blackened metal that we associate with guns, its a little brighter in the image. So there we are! Now there is a good range of colours the detail is starting to reveal itself. Its worth mentioning too, the decals that are supplied for the dash and fire extinguishers are really thick, however much I tried I could not get them to conform, so left them off. And hopefully that will satisfy Robbos curiosity regarding where all the shells go
