Well I have really been wanting to build a piece of armor from the Normandy Campaign as I read "Tank Action" so I decided to break out the old Dragon Jagdpanther Normandy Special Edition in 1/35th. Not a bad kit and this version comes with photo-etch and a metal barrel. Assembly looks pretty straight-forward and it's mostly large pieces. The one I will be building is one of the overall Dk. Yellow ones from the Normandy fighting. The one I am depicting has cube-zimmerit so I applied a layer of Mr. Surfacer 500 and roughed it up slightly with a brush. Once that was done I scribed the cubes with a Bare Metal Foil Co. scriber which went fairly smoothly due to the slab sides. Onwards and upwards........ Regards, Ian

Thanks gents! I am a horrible scriber by my own admission so the only saving grace for me here was large uninterrupted flat sides on the tank.
Best wishes,
Ian

I did some more Zimmerit work on the Jagdpanther, early version. I got the front glacis plate scribed and then worked on the right side and got the pattern drawn on there with a Micron Pen. I have to do this in small doses. Fortunately, this unit used this unique small cube pattern which is probably easier than some of the other patterns out there. I hope to have the whole hull knocked out this week. See ya, gents. Best wishes, Ian

I finished off the cube Zimmerit during the thunderstorms last night, with lots of help from the Heineken Corporation. Actually, it went really well so the Heineken may help. I started on the PE additions and these were supplied with the kit since this was a special edition from Dragon. The PE was really nice and thin and looks great on the grills on the back deck. I heated the front fenders and bent them in since these tended to get really banged up. So far this has been a very straightforward build and it has been a really nice kit to work with. Best wishes, Ian
