So I was looking for black-and white number decals for the Jagdpanther project and this kit had them so I decided to get this started. This is the infamous Dragon #6232 Late-Model King Tiger II in 1/35th Scale. This kit has probably caused more internet article chaos than any other tank kit, barring the Black Label M-103. This features the late war single track links and the eighteen tooth sprocket wheel to accompany those tracks. Supposedly a handful saw service in the Ardennes with Panzer Abteilung 506 which was can of worms #1 (zimmerit or no zimmerit, hard edge or soft edge camo, ambush or not, or better yet did the 506th even have them at all). The kit could also be the basis for the actual Octopus Tiger from Panzer Abteilung 510, which was found at Kassel in 1945, which is can of worms #2 (yellow and brown Octopus or green and yellow Octopus, how many had the scheme, why did they do that etc.) I have decided to forego all of that and I am going to build a "what-if" Wehrmacht '46 Royal Tiger in some type of Octopus Ambush camo. The kit is really nicely molded and it went together very quickly with no issues. Parts are provided to do the mid-production Royal Tiger as well. It comes with a metal barrel and nicely cast photo-etch and a set of Volksgrenadier Infantry are thrown in the box for good measure. My plan is to do the vehicle in Dark Green and Dark Yellow Octopus camo with either the hull or turret in overall Dark Green and the Octopus camo then applied to the other part. I might do splinter camo as well to give it a twist. Anyway, stay tuned. Best wishes, Ian

I made some headway on the late version Tiger II and so far it has been a very straightforward build. A nice PE fret is supplied for the engine deck so I got all the grills added, with the help of a PE bender. This version does not have the jack attachment on the rear so I have to fill in those attachment points and it also does not have the block attached either, so I had to sand down that area as well. Stay tuned...... Best wishes, Ian
