Been kind of a busy week so I haven't got much bench time in. However, I did work on the turret some more. I painted the mantlet with Mission Models Red Oxide Primer and reattached it to the turret. I also spray painted the 88mm gun barrel with some Model Master Gunship Grey, darkened with a few drops of black, to depict a newly installed gun barrel fresh from the Krupp Factory. I still have to paint the Octo-Spots on the left side of the turret and that should do it for the camo. I also am going to paint the sprocket and idler wheels with Red Oxide Primer, as if the parts were added from another vehicle or factory. Stay tuned........... Best wishes, Ian

Things are calming down here on the homefront so I got in some bench-time. I made a little progress on the Octo-Tiger and I decided to go with Red Oxide Primer idlers, sprockets, transmission housings and fenders. This will lend a little contrast on the hull. I used Mission Models Red Oxide Primer and the paint really laid down well. Next, I worked on the tracks and the problems began. This version uses the single link late-model track with the 18-tooth sprocket. The problem was that the teeth did not line up very well with the holes in the links and the way Dragon designed the tracks there is a 1/2 track link deficit when you try to attach the ends. Essentially the track is too short to attach together but if you add another link you get too much slack over the sprocket and idler. I have heard that this has been a problem with this kit so to remedy this I am ordering a set of the HobbyBoss late-model tracks from Scale Hobbyist and I heard they work well with the Tamiya and Dragon Tiger IIs so all is not lost. I will start work on the cage-armor in the meantime and do some work on the turret and hull. Best wishes, Ian

That is a very nice red oxide . Darned annoying about the tracks mind, I have used the HB tracks on Tamiya and they fit excellently. I reckon they should fit the Dragon too

Well done Ian ! I like all crazy octopus camouflage patterns. The "911" looks great on the barrel.

Thank you! Yes, I love the Octopus Pattern too. I have the Amusing Hobby E-100 Jagdpanzer kit and there is a great schematic for another Octopus Pattern in that kit.
Best wishes,
Ian
