Trying something out on this. The front end is aluminium and I've seen this done very polished and very dull. I've got a bottle of Alclad chrome I've never used and as you are aware this has to be spayed over a shiny black base to get the shine, If it's not done over a shiny black base the chrome comes out flatter, looking more like aluminium yes? We'll see soon enough if I'm right

I'd test it out on something first mate.

I`ve used it many times mate , mixed results along the way due to the fine line of too much or too little...........one pass to many and.....bang....it`s gone!!! The secret is the Gloss Black............it needs to be shining like a diamond in a goats arse fella and as smooth as can be...otherwise the desired effect can be hit n miss as mentioned, not trying to put you off at all just a simple case of first hand experience Just make sure you get the black as tight as can be (including gentle buffing/polishing etc) and pass the Chrome in light passes and slowly build it up ...........don`t go heavy!!!...........and wear a feckin` mask HTH mucker

More like aluminium I think I leave it to dry overnight and see it in daylight, it will be getting a dark wash too

Doesn't look too bad Ian . I personally use Vallejo paints for Silver/Aluminium and Seel, They all have excellent covering qualities and are not too shiny either . The bonus is, they certainly aren't liquid cancer in a jar like some products .

Looks good to me Ian B) I need a good Ali finish too, metallics the only thing I don’t like about Tamiya paints. I try the Vallejo’s

I'm not too sure about it now , I think I'll give it a thin blow over with a thin Humbrol aluminium

Thanks for the info Paul, it's always good to be pointed in the right direction with thing that have worked with others
I gave it a coat of Humbrol and am very pleased, it seems to be a bit darker and looks more solid, it was looking a bit patchy in the flesh, some bits shinier than others
