Firstly, let me thank everyone who has gave me a warm welcome to MHO, a big thank you gentleman. I first became aware of MHO whilst I was admiring some rather splendid looking armour at the IPMS Romsey show back in the summer. These were part of The Stonehenge Modellers stand. It was the weathering that took my eye. I got chatting to the gentleman on the stand, who you all know as Pete. He told me he was part of a laid-back online modelling site, called Modellers Haven online. After a few weeks lurking, I could see what Pete meant. So here I am with my first build. I'm normally more into aircraft, but I'd thought I'd kick off with a bit of armour. This is it, the Tamiya Achilles British Tank Destroyer. Being a big Tamiya w***e, I know it will go together without any problems (other brands are also available to be left half built by me). Hopefully, I won't take forever, but I can't see it finished by Christmas. If that's the case, I'll put it to one side as I've committed to the Carl Fisher Tribute group build. Thank you, Joe.

Thanks for the excellent link. I see what you mean about the crewman. Wouldn't want to meet him on a dark night.

This will be fun to watch. I do need to find a 1/72 scale model of this vehicle too. I'll be taking notes.

UM Models makes one which is supposed to be good. I might even have it somewhere in the stash; I just can't remember.

Hello everyone, I've made a somewhat slow start (normal for me) with the lower hull. It's built up in a what some modellers call, a flat pack. Being a Tamiya kit, there are no surprises with the quality of the mouldings. I'm undecided if I'll paint the white interior before or after attaching the side.

Great start Joe . Be carefull with painting, the driver / co-driver and engine compartment are white, the side walls of the fighting compartment are also white, including the sponsons. The tread plate under the trurret is however OD .
