I've started another new project and something totally outside my comfort zone. A mate at work has asked me to build a couple of figures to depict a scene from the battle at Isandlwana. He's been to the battlefield and has a massive interest in the Zulu wars. He even provided me with a bit of rock from the area which I'll use on the base. Figures are Benetio & are 75mm & white metal. Careful clean up was required and a test spray of primer revealed some work needed on one of the soldier's arm joints. I'll be painting these in oils over an acrylic base coat so again something I've not done for a very long time. Should be an interesting project I think
Cheers guys, today I've painted the base colours using vallejo & kept them lighter to act as highlights later on once the oils get cracked open. Dick I'll be putting these on a base together, something like this,
Well I've been quietly working away on this project and having big trouble with the tunic on the soldier so stripped it back and started again. much happier with the base colour so can now progress. The Zulu is going well and is nearly ready for shadows plus I've done the wood on the spear, rifle & shield.
