Chaps, I guess by now you know that I am a tad mad . So here's my mad idea. I guess plenty of you have heard of the "Eduard Weekend Edition" of kits. The question is, are these really buildable in a weekend ? Well, to find out I would like to suggest a "Mad weekend build" . You can choose any kit you like, but it must have the Eduard weekend label on the box. Also there will be no scale limit, but I only know of 1/72 and 1/48. Here's a couple of rules for those that might be interested: 1. Must be an Eduard Weekend Kit 2. Straight out of the box, except for paint 3. Once the box is opened, that is when the clock starts ticking. 3. Complete in the time frame. The time frame I would make 72 hours. Why? Simple answer, I like to sleep for about 8 hours a night, so Friday/Saturday/Sunday makes 24 hours. That leaves 48 Hours build time, basically a weekend. Any takers? If not, I'll try it on my own

I even didn't know nothing about these models. I won't participate, but I'll follow with interest...

That's a shame Marco , I thought I might tempt you into a winged build there .

No winggies for me mate! I simply can't build birds... Join the two halves plenty of plates and rivets is a nightmare!

Hi Paul, would we all be doing at on the same weekend? Or can we decide which weekend we want to build it? I'd go for this if I committed

Neat idea. I've got a couple in the stash but have started them during previous stalled campaigns...so that counts me out.

I’ll give that a go, the end result will not be pretty though! My weekend E.II has the look and fit of a short run kit ... I sorta miss the days when I’d buy an Airfix bagged kit Saturday morning and have painted before DrWho (Tom Baker) started that evening

So there are some takers then . I have a kit on order, should be here next week. Joe you asked how the weekend would be planned, well to be honest I'd like to see all of us together on the same date. I'm not in a rush, but if you wish you can make the call . Lets just wait another couple of days and see if anyone else is mad enough for this. Pete, IanH where out thou ?

Thank you Paul. I'm happy to fit in with everyone else. I've just ordered the Bf-108 through my LHS. Hopefully, it will arrive in a week or so. Count me in please. He also told me, the Tamiya P-38 is due in next.

Boots I reckon even with doing this in the winter, there is going to be some sweating and many a colourful word spoken . I have built a Weekend Edition MiG 21 before and I was nowhere close to getting it done on a single weekend .

Well, I have no Weekend Editions in the stash but then I don't think I could do it on a weekend. On three weekdays yes; my wife is at work during that time so my time is mine; but on weekends my time is hers and she takes a lot of it. I also sing in my choir at church so services will also take time. Still, I'll follow along here and watch the fun.
Bring it guys!

Great concept guys but I am in the same boat as Duke. Weekends are tight because I work. However, if it is a 72 hour timeframe of our choosing I could swing it. I have done this before...got tasked to do an Accurate Miniatures Mustang I in three days for a photo shoot. It's kinda fun..........
Best wishes,
Ian

Righto chaps, so we have 5 definite players on this : 1. PorcoRosso 2. alexb 3. SteveM 4. Snipersmudge 5. PaulB You lads know I'll start anytime at all on something like this, but I'll let you fellas choose the weekend date . I know Pete isn't too bothered which weekend it'll be, so it's down to Joe, Alex and Steve to decide .

I sorta miss the days when I’d buy an Airfix bagged kit Saturday morning and have painted before DrWho (Tom Baker) started that evening Steve, sorry, I should have acknowledged your post above when you mentioned it in Build an Airfix kit in an afternoon. Sorry about that. I notice Paul has left it to, Alex, Steve, and myself to arrange a date. I noticed Steve mentioned he was tied up with DIY for a few weeks. I work shift, which gives me every other Friday off. If I list the dates these fall on, maybe Alex and Steve could find one that suits them. If not, no worries, I can get round it. Friday15th (possibly to early for Steve). Friday 29th. or dare I say it, Friday the 13th (could be a little bit late). Like I said, if it's between these dates, I'll sort something out. I picked up my entry yesterday from my LHS. Paul, am I right in thinking your entry is going to be a Bf-109?

Alright I've got a Bristol F2B Fighter that hasn't had any work done yet. I'll try but I tend to be pretty slow when building aircraft...it's all the painting. I really need to build some of these plane kits so I'll give it a shot.
As far as a start/finish date, it doesn't matter to me.
And if anyone is looking for a nice easy build...possibly a way to dip one's toe n to the Eduard Weekend kit pool... I'd suggest their Avia B-534...it's the last of the bi-planes. Eduard offers an open and canopied cockpit. The paint is simple...green with a grey underside. To be honest, most of their bi-planes are pretty sweet.
