As part of my New Year's Resolution, I am going to get a few older projects off my work-bench. This is a 54mm Roman Signifer from Tin Figures out of Ukraine that has sat, primered, on my workbench for about two years. The figure represents a Signifer from the Roman XIVth Legion, better known as "The Twin" and "Gemina Martia Victrix." Last night, after numerous glasses of Glenfiddich, I pulled an all-nighter and got him painted. I used a variety of Vallejo Paints and various Mineral Spirit/Oil Paint washes for the finish. All the metal parts were finished with Vallejo Silver and then given some weathering and shading. For the deep, heavy washes, I used Pledge Floor Wax mixed with Acryl Black and Dark Brown paint. The figure itself is pewter and is really beautiful cast. I bought another one which is a Saxon Warrior holding a head------- Anyway, this was a good testbed for figure-painting and drinking Glenfiddich. Best wishes, Ian

Thanks guys! Yes, I will be using Scotch for all figure painting in the future. . The project is done so I will get some new photos once the polyurethane on the base dries. Regards, Ian

I finished the Roman Signifer and rounded everything out with a small base and some ground work. This was a fun test bed for figure painting techniques using oils and washes, etc. Best wishes, Ian
