Looks fantastic Ian. I used "Vietnam Earth" from Mig Productions to simulate dust on my G6. It's very close to the pics that Pete send to me (Thanks again, Pete!)

Liking the look of it and the picture is an interesting study of weathering vs. realism.

Thanks guys! Yeah Jabbly, basically will be just a pigment application here as the vehicles look in pretty tip-top shape in photos so no real wear and tear to add.

I got some bench-time in and I got the Olifant finished. For the weathering I started off by shading all the paneling lines and recessed areas with Tamiya Smoke and then sealed the finish Vallejo Glass Varnish. I then added an overall filter wash of Black/Ivory/Burnt Umber Oils diluted heavily with mineral spirits which was applied liberally over the vehicle. After that, I applied darker pin washes of Raw/Burnt Umber oils to accentuate some of the details. After the washes were applied, I sprayed the model with Vallejo Flat Varnish, diluted with a couple of drops of Vallejo Iraqi Sand to give it a dusty appearance. These tanks appear to be very well maintained so no chipping or scratches were added. However, they did get a little muddy out on the training ranges so I applied a layer of MIG Vietnam Red Dust to the running gear and areas of the hull and turret. Photos didn't indicate much stowage carried externally so I left that off as well. The periscopes were given a layer of Tamiya Smoke tinted with a drop of Tamiya Clear Blue and the gunner's optic was treated with a layer of clear purple. Photos showed Olifants usually carried only one or two antenna, instead of three, so I went with two, in the front and right rear mounts. The tank depicted is from the 1st South African Tank Regiment based in Bloemfontein, which operates three squadrons of Olifants. The base came from a discarded Pz. IV diorama from years back, a winter one at that. I resprayed the base with Vallejo Rust, added some Woodland Scenics grass and lichen and then secured the Olifant to it. This was a pretty fun build and amounts to a decent rendering of this reborn Centurion. (wheels not withstanding). Best wishes, Ian
