For those not familiar with the Bandai range of kits they are aimed at two markets, the quick and easy build - so snap fit, pre-coloured plastic and stickers. For those who want to do a bit more you get decals and you can paint it to your heart’s content. They also don’t lack in detail regardless of the low part count. One thing you learn the hard way is snap fit really means that so dry fitting is not something to do (not that you need to) and you have to be really careful with painting sub assemblies not to get paint build-up. The kit itself has a low part count even by their normal standards so if you really wanted to, you could build it in 45mins including a tea break. My progress so far has just been putting the office together with its fifteen decals including two for the pilots helmet. The masking which could have been a bit laborious is made a lot easier as you can use the stickers as masks, which is nice although I don’t think that’s the intention. So the piccky of where I’m at.

I'm in, love these things!! They are fun to build and it’s the paint job that really brings it to life. I did toy with the idea of LED lighting but decided against it.

In between doing the tracks for the KV-5 (which has been an interesting exercise in maths) I’ve been beavering away with the painting stage. So Germany Grey base, I seem to have run out of black and I don’t want to waste my NATO black, then RAF Ocean Grey mixed 50/50 with white. Finally some more white added for a lighter shade. I’ve also added a little piccky to show some of the lovely detail on these kits. Oh and as for what’s the correct colour, well let’s just say this is a ‘discussion’ that’s a large step above what colour is a Panzer Grey.

Detail is amazingly good i have to say Looking at the surface tile of the Death Star I’m sure one of greebles used is a German WWII tank jack.

A few steps ahead. Painting, highlighting, decals, pin wash and now need some more tidy up of the pin wash.
