Holy cow, anybody reading this, would think we're all drunkards . Cheers chaps . Today I painted the many wheels for this beast . I gave this some thought too, as I'm fed up with trying to paint the inner demarcation for the rubber tyre with a hairy stick . So, I measured the inner diameter, the width between the road wheels and the depth also. My original plan was to cut an o-ring and trap it in the inner space , didn't work as I haven't got any that fit. Plan B then came into action . What I needed was something with 2mm core size. Voila , enter the 2mm solder . I cut 47mm lengths of solder and wrapped these around the olive drab, pre-painted road wheels. Then I just sprayed the tyre black and after it was dry removed the solder . mho.freeforums.net/thread/2041/painting-inner-parts-road-wheelsI'm now working on the tracks, hopefully I will have these done tonight

Wow! What an interesting idea. I know a guy in my local AMPS club who calls himself the "world's laziest modeler" and won't even paint the roadwheels of any of his tanks. He says it's because the paint will all be hidden under the weathering anyway so why bother?
Yeah, he also wins Best in Show at every contest and convention he goes to as well.
This is truly magnificent Paul and a brilliant idea. Way to go!

Okay chaps, the running gear is now in place . Still need dirtying on the road wheel discs, but that will come later after the rest has been fitted and painted.

The track sag looks very convincing Paul, shame it’s hiding those wheels and after such a neat painting trick

Okay then, I got the rest of the bits in place today, had a bit of a fight with light guards and I scratched the tow cable holders on the rear. The track cover holders were also a bit of guess and curse but they accepted my will in the end . I also took one link of the tracks on both sides, there was just too much sag on there for a live track . More soon dudes, now I can crack open the OD again
