While I’m waiting for the flat coat on the Stuka for harden off I though I’d make a start on the Hawk. Firstly, I’m not happy with the moulded details on this kit, they are very soft with a lot of flash. I went digging in the stash and found another Airfix Hawk kit. This was a later Red Arrows issue kit that I’d bought for £2 so this is going be a donor kit as the details are better allround. T.2 parts are the ‘orrible beige colour, the newer kit is grey. Hopefully you can see the improvement? Also, the cockpit tub sits too far back in the fuselage which leaves a step back to the firewall of around 1.5mm. I cut 1.5mm from the front joint (arrow 1) that pulls the firewall forward to be flush with the fuse top edge (arrow 2) Get me with my technical illustrations more when I can fellas

Like the Boots & Paul said, the donor parts are a big improvement. The technical Illustrious helped explain the problem. Nice one birthday boy.

Way to go figuring out the fix to those issues. Nice improvement with the other parts too. This is fun to watch.

Just to prove that I do sometimes join the hobby, the fillerfest that is Airfix's 1990's standard continues Hopefully we'll be ready for paint soon but the prep has to be 1st class as the gloss black will show every blemish
