Cheers gents. I wasn't absolutely sure about this last night , but having revisited this today I think this is the way to go in the future. As has been said good things take time, so its worth the effort.

Knocked back the sheen with a nice matt coat, and its looking better. Still need to play with the turret anti slip. Thinking a buff dry brush should see it right. Starting on the tracks and running gear next. Its coming together

Thanks Ian. Work is ongoing with the tracks. Hope to have them finished this week and then it will "ONLY" be a case of bringing all the sub assemblies together and then final details...

Well BUGGER ... Probably a consequence of the time its taken to get this far, but after painting and basic weathering of tracks I offered them up to the running gear to find them having shrunk in storage and coming up about 3cm short... I wanna cry!
Not insurmountable, but hell an annoyance just when I thought I was on the home stretch .. Grrrrrrrrr

That is most annoying indeed Paul . Can you hide the missing area behind the side skirts?

It's the damn 1% Rule that plagues this hobby. You get 99% done and here comes that problem at the finish line. You will get it worked out, though.
Best wishes,
Ian

That's a bummer mate, are they the kit plastic tracks? Had that happen to me a few times but since I've used tamiya extra thin cement it's not occured yet.

I've had that happen also and wondered what the #ell caused it . Good luck on the fix .
