I suppose that makes sense, it saves you painting the backing black later. Not sure what you mean Paul, painting what black later?

In this scale it makes them stand out better Jeff
Right just got a good answer on the deck colour from a ship buff and he even produced colour charts and time lines. The decks were blue.
I've just ordered a AK deck blue, three reasons I went for AK, I've never used it before, it was cheaper than Lifecolour, it is 18 mil as opposed to 10 mil

After you had drilled the port holes to give them better depth , I thought you would a backing top close them off like this: Port holes Port holes backed off After you get the hull painted, pick the port holes out with black or a dark wash . When you use that AK paint be careful, it's rather unforgiving . Make sure you give it a good ten (10) minute stir. Spray very thin coats. To thin it I used Humbrol clear gloss varnish (acrylic) Whatever you do DO NOT USE ALCOHOL, you'll end up with cement in your AB if you do.

At last Don't forget to make holes for little stand bits first or this will cause you much grief later, these are going to be nice and shiny The hanger deck before and after fitting, bit of a gap between the front and rear deck halves but there is no way you can see this when the flight deck is fitted And last but not least for now, some means of propulsion
