Before getting loose on the Gripen, I thought it would be a good idea to brush up on wingy thing builds as it's been a VERY long time. A stash rummage gave me this fella. Considering the Indian Airforce option, though the thought of all those stencils The Gripen has considerably fewer and its in 1/48... Oh well on we go should be ready for paint soon enough.

Looking forward to this Paul, I haven't ever seen a wingy from you ole chap . As with most of use styrene heads My journey started with a wingy thing.. Airfix Spitfire Vb in blue plastic... Did mostly aircraft up until mymid-20s then gave up for about 15 years... So it's kinda like comming home but with a bit more skill and kit.

OK, a couple of changes in direction with this... First up, originally planned for wheels down, but one of the main gear wheels decided it wanted to move off my bench and into the one bloody hole big enough in between floor boards, so it's flight attitude. Second up: I also have some 1/72scale IAC decals so I'm thinking of a bit of a "What if..."
No pics presently as my phone camera is being a bit of a lavender... Need to sort that out today as well.

Ghost gray lower and light grey upper surfaces. Tomorrow is a day off with good weather forecast so I'm hoping to get an early gloss coat on and if poss started on decals. Time will tell. Those engraved lines should be great for the wash too.

First go with the decals. Bosses and tail flash applied and helped with some Microsol. Need to remember that it makes them look like crap to start but it settles... Eventually. Kit decals are proving to be somewhat less "helpful".Taking forever to release from the backing, possibly due to storage.

Gave up on trying anymore of the kit decals other than the ejection seat Markers. Microsol worked well, everything conformed as needed. Sealed with another blast of gloss then panel liner, wipe back and matt coat. Only a couple of aerials and the pitot to add.
