Hey guys, I got this bust from Mark, a fantastic friend of mine who died much too early from cancer. I'm glad to have known him and I will dedicate it to him. Rip my dear Friend... This well known and popular bust from Young Miniatures was prepared a long time ago and that makes it a shelf king (as we never call a parachutist soldier a queen !). The only thing that was left to do was to find something suitable to put the bust on. But the thing that came with the bust just wasn't to my likings. I couldn't find anything until today as I remembered what saved Paul's project a couple of days ago. Paul I know you're gonna LYAO

The bust has one easy to correct flaw as parachutists from the 101st (Screaming Eagles shoulder patch) didn't have a stars and stripes flag sewed onto their right shoulder during D-day. During Market Garden however they wore it. I cut the raised cotton flag away and after finesanding the bust is ready for its degreasing bath. The helmet with the chinstraps (standard and triangular jump straps) needed a bit of extra attention as these hung stiff and not natural (no don't start funny comments, this is a serious thread! ). 2 sec in hot steam was enough to give them a nice turn. Only for reference purposes.

In fact I liked to finish sergeant Greasegun but the oils weren't fully cured yet. This bust is only a grasp away so I started with the beautifully sculpted M1C paratrooper helmet. I brushed on heavily thinned Humbrol enamels as a primer. It's fun to switch between a 1:35 and a 1:10 scale helmet to be honest. Tomorrow more mates.
