Hi chaps, I've a slight change of plan for this group build . I have now decided on the Canadian Leopard C2 Mexas , I think it's rather more fitting for this one. Not many marking options, either 1st, 2nd, 3rd troop A Squadron, or HQ Squadron of the Lord Strathconas Horse. All in Afghanistan, 2007. Box is now open, cutting and gluing just started

Nice pick, Paul! Lots of history with the Strathconas. I know they were glad to get their heavy armor back for the A'Stan deployment.

Cheers Ian . I can certainly understand wanting heavy armor in Afghanistan, I wouldn't feel safe in anything else.

Guy, Pete, cheers chaps . Well I made a start earlier. The lower hull and sussies are complete, the bandie tracks are certainly a huge improvement to the other Meng kits, upper hull and rear deck in place. I'll see how far I get tonight, but I can say at this speed and with the good fitting, it could could all be built by Sunday

A tad more done today, although the progress did slow down a bit due to the multipart armour skirts and a multi part turret . More soon dudes

A little more on the Mexas fellas . The optics are all clear plastic, so I thought I would try something different for a change. Instead of painting them after being blasted with the hull colour, I masked the clear part first. The base where the optics go into has been painted silver, the optics themselves have been painted with Vallejo Panzer Aces 309 Periscope colour. What I hope is after the main colour has been added, I can remove the masked bit and have a decent looking optic without having to paint anything. We'll see if it pays off or not later. I also had some fun with ole foe Mr.P.E., the optics covers for the driver are a real PITA to bend. Just for fun I have done a dry fit of the turret armour too . Tomorrow I'll some colour on the turret sides, then I can fix all the rest of the turret stuff and move on

The optics approach was a good idea Paul. The turret is building up nicely.

Great idea with the periscopes, Paul. Also, nice work on the turret. Love how that turret looks, especially with the turret bustle add-on.

Guy, Ian, cheers chaps . As said we'll see if that works later, just hope the silver gives enough reflection for effect
