I decided to go with a battered look instead. It’s been hit a few times but still running. The impact marks should come out okay. Will just have to see. I’ve used Tamiya dark green 2 as the base and going to spray dark yellow 2 and red brown 2, too. Though not sure about the colors, though. Picked up dark green 2 and red brown 2 by mistake. Red brown 2 XF90 looks more like diarrhea green than red or brown. Interesting to see how it turns out.

That colour does look a little odd at the moment , but the damage looks good

Yeah, I’ll see how the green goes, but I’ve ballsed it up now.
Back to the drawing board with this one. Though I did say it was all to practice airbrushing.

Oh dear . Looks like the mix was a tad off there, try to get the mix a little thinner than tinned milk. Are you using a compressor, or the canned air stuff? If you're using a compressor start with a high pressure, and gradually turn it down until you get a consistent spray. You will soon notice that you need to adjust the pressure for each mix of paint, well at least until you find a mix that suites you

Yeah, I know where I went wrong. The needle was not fit properly. My mistake. Getting there but these number 2 colours are really off. And Paul - using the can stuff for now, but got my eye out. Difficult to know what and where to get in Japan. What’s the best way to clean off the paint? Just spray over or are there any tricks?

Well at least you found out the reason and that is something that doesn't always happen Depends on how dry it is Tommy, I use IPA or a good soak over night in water with a bathroom cleaner. I also have some VMS clean slate, that is excellent.

IPA?
Indian pale ale - what you drink it and then you just don’t care? How does it work?

Definite improvement but still not happy. I just don’t have the right kit yet. The washing machine has broke down so a compressor is to be sidelined for now. I’m going to try touching up the yellow with a brush and then move on.

There is always the option of painting the camo as a hard edge scheme.

IPA? Indian pale ale - what you drink it and then you just don’t care? How does it work? LMFAO Tommy. Never thought of it like that Isopropanol or isopropyl alcohol. You get it at chemists DIY stores or Amazon. It's an industrial alcohol which has very good cleaning properties. If you let it work long enough it will even remove enamel based paint. I use it for thinning Tamiya acrylics and cleaning the airbrush.

Isopro... I’ll stick with the IPA, thank you very much. There are some very good micro breweries in Japan that make the stuff.
Drown your sorrows and disappointments in IPA.

All put together and time for a couple of coats of VMS varnish before the chipping and nicking. Had to fight with the tracks, glad for the side skirts so I can hide the bad joins.
