Hi All
As promised here's the full build of the Tiffy. It was a mix of OOB, Eduard and Yahu (PE) and resin parts from Barracuda. I'd always wanted to build this kit after seeing it on my return to modelling and researching what i'd like to create. It was ordered from Hannants and shipped over. The crazy thing is, is that I purchased it including shipping for the equivalent $150 (GBP75) less than I could purchase it from retailers here before shipping costs.
I had read some online reviews that while the kit was a good fit and the detail is amazing, the clean up and filling of ejector marks is insanely ridiculous. It can ruin your build mojo, which I know has happened to many. I had a few wobbles, but I wasn't going to let the bugger defeat me.
The instructions are very good and well laid out and it took a little bit of time to work out chnges of kit parts and AM parts before I kicked off the build.
Here's some of the early stage photos to kick things off. The instrument panel is a mix of Eduard and Yahu PE

That is very nice indeed......great cockpit and engine work John..........LMAO Hi Everyone Thanks very much for the comments about the first uploaded pics. The instrument panel was a photo-etch kit and had a lot of very intricate handles and knobs that needed to be folded. The biggest challenge was doing it without flinging them all over the room and into the waiting carpet monster. Here's some more pics showing the wing structures and engine pics. Cheers Mark

Sorry, forgot to add that the air intake and grilles were an AM kit from Baracuda. The round intake was resin and the grilles were photo-etch. Next up is the gun bays from each wing. The kit gun barrels were swapped out with a brass set, but I can't remember the manufacturer sorry. That will do for this evening. Got to leave you wanting more..... Cheers Mark

Evening / Morning So to continue on the build, the wing shells were added. On the whole the fitting of the kit was pretty good once the clean up was completed. However, this kit is engineered so tightly that if you get something not quite right it can be a number of steps down the track before you find out when other parts won't fit correctly. This really is a bugger. This happened on the wing halves, so a bit of filler was required on the leading edges. You can see in these photos that I'd replaced the kit landing gear with metal ones from Mk1 Models. Next pic is of the fuselage components before assembly. It also includes removing some of the fuselage behind the cockpit to use the alternative canopy.
When the wings and fuselage come together you realise how big this Tiffie is at 1/24. Cheers Mark
