Terrific amount of thought going into this Tommy

It’s all in the book, Boots. Chapter 2
It was an incredible but not unusual sight to see some tank crew, temporarily immobile or disengaged but still under fire, huddled over a sand-and-petrol stove making tea.

Love those oil drums, Tommy. Very realistic accessory.

The sand is down and just waiting for it to dry. Not sure if VMS was the best option for sand. You don’t need it to set like mud. Still, good experience.

I will sort out the surface once dried.

Looks great Tommy. I'm sure the base will look when it's finished.

I would give a spray of Acrylic glue of watered PVA and then dust loose sand over areas you want to work on, any loose sand will just drop off

Thanks PorcoRosso and Boots.
I’m going to use VMS sand pigments on top.

I painted the wall in buff and then made a wash from VMS sand pigment. I highlighted with Tamiya weathering master. Finished one side of the wall with VMS sand coarse and fine.
Also knocked up a couple of notice boards to show it’s on the edge of a German airfield, which played a significant part in the book.

Thanks guys. For the heavily weathered look, I scratched them to hell with a razor saw, painted them buff and weathered with MIG old wood effect. Took the excess off with a cotton bud.

Brews nearly up. Just putting together a few more bits and pieces. The surface is a lot better now with the coarse sand.
