Thanks for all of the positive feedback guys. I've done a session on the 2nd phase of the chipping tonight on the turret. Will work on the latest pics and upload them soon.
Off to bed now.

Oh the joys off getting old and the random thought that pops in to your head at 3am making you wide awake!! So as I'm up I might as well put some pics up. As last mentioned I've started on the chipping. I started out with a lighter tone of the base coat and using some tweezers and a piece of sponge I started on the first step. Then I used my trusty Series 7 000 W&N to finish off the effect. For step 2, I mixed dark panzer grey, white and light base colour chipping yellow to create the steel chipping colour. Again with my trusty 000 and a steady hand and patience I went to work. It's a much easier process when you're infilling the lighter chips as they show you where to work. I managed to do about 45 minutes before SWMBO stopped play, so here's progress to date. Hopefully I can do a little bit more after work tonight and complete step 2. Then the last step is the enamel rust wash to really make it look battle worn. Cheers and keeeep modelling Mark

Evening / Morning All Have decided to take a long weekend so had today off and also have Monday and Tuesday too. Unfortuntately it's not all modelling fun as I have to prep for some concreting on Monday, after I've watched the final of course! Had my first ever go on a concrete cutter today and that was a lot of fun. Then it was the hard bit of breaking it up and getting rid of it. Tomorrow is boxing and then Sunday...R&R. Anyway I did manage to get a bit more done and got to the end of stage 2. The lighter chips were infilled with the steel mix on the gun turret. Then I went back to the turret and finished of the scratches to the side and top. Then it was on to the main tank body and doing much more of the same. Next is stage 3, the rust washes and effects. The plan is to get that done on Sunday and then it will be on to dust, mud and grime. Keep modelling Cheers Mark

Evening . Morning All Concrete boxing all done........check, Sunday for meodelling......check. Today was a solid 6 1/2 hours doing the rust effects as part of the chipping process. Turns out 6 1/2 hours can just fly by when you're in the zone and have some of your favourite tunes to accompany you. First up I used some Shadow Brown oil paint to create the burn marks around the sheel hits. The it was the same process of light and dark steel chips to create impact damage. I didn't actualy take a specific pic of the shell impacts,so have zoomed in on another one. It's a bit blurred but it gives you the idea. Not really too much else to say, other than I was using the AK streaking rust wash pick out the worst of the steel chipping to show where rust has taken hold. I really wanted the Tiger to have a well used, dodge a few shells and shrapnel look. The purists would say that you would bever have that much rust, but I want it to have lots of visual appeal and blame Uncle Nightshift it's all his fault....lol So here's some pic updates Keep Modelling Cheers Mark

You have certainly captured the look of well worn warrior there Mark . Don't worry about the purists fella, most if not all don't even know how to open the box of a model kit, let alone build one .
