Gecko Models Supacat ATMP

That's the construction done with some tricky bits to tackle at the end. However once built up for such a tiny model it's packed with details. The wheels build up well but you need to be careful as Gecko have screwed this up slightly. They supply a correction sheet for steps 9 & 10 but they managed to get that wrong as well. When building wheels "A" don't add the hubs part DA3. "A" wheels are the rear ones which don't have the hubs on them. Wheels "B" & "C" however do and you only get 4 hubs. I also found that adding parts DK15 & DK16 to the hull worked better as this gives you a better positive fit and the wheels can then be pushed on and removed easily. 

Wheels "A" at the rear have a really small contact point to the hull so I drilled out the hull recess and the axles then added some plastic rod which gives a much better fit. If I build this kit again I'll just drill out these areas on the hull and put a rod straight through before fitting the upper deck sections. The seat harnesses where a bit tricky to add needing at least three pairs of hands at times. I can't see any other way of adding them but again if I was to do them again I'd use tamiya tape and cut the buckles etc from the etch and glue on the tape. I dug out a fire extinguisher from the spares box, this will sit on the passenger side front plate. 

The wing mirrors are good & I used brass rod to replace the flimsy mounting poles. I've also made up the rear load and pallet which looks pretty good. Still not sure I'll use them on the final model though. So it's now off for a wash followed by some etch primer due to all the brass on the kit.
