Over the last couple of months I assembled three older Tamiya kits so that could practice painting and weathering techniques and try out a few new ones. Here are the three Stuart based kits that I’ll be practicing on…As you can see these are quick Out-Of-the-Box builds with only minimal additions for stowage. I did have to scratch build two gun tubes as the originals where lost somewhere. First up will be the M3 done as a lend lease to the Russians I primed the kit with a flat black rattle can picked up from my local Hobby Lobby. This stuff is actually really nice and self-levels. Just had to make sure not to flood the surface with the paint. Next up I laid down a base color with Mission Models OD. After letting it dry for about an hour I did some lite chipping with water and a brush. The chipping looks more like paint rub which is how OD reacts so I was generally happy with the effect. Thanks For Stopping By and Stay Tuned for More Updates!

Thanks Gentleman! I haven't painted nor weathered in a while. I felt I need to do some before I lose that skill set.

Hi Eric. Did you use anything under the OD coat to aid the chipping?

Thanks Sir! I did not use anything under the OD. I only let it set a short time, about an hour before I started the chipping.
