Awesome I might have missed it, but are you using those pencils wet or dry? Hi Paul You can apply them dry and then add water with a brush to create your effect. My preferred method is to dip the tip into water then apply. I them use a wet pointed cotton bud to clean and manipulate the effect. If you don't like how it's ended up just get a wet cotton bud and remove it. I used to rust effect with enamel rust and/or pigments but i found them pretty unforgiving if it didn't end up how you wanted it. I would recommend them. Cheers Mark

That seems to do what I need. Like all of these things you can buy the whole set and probably not use half of them! I'd recommend picking a few up and trying them out, you'll be surprised how easy they are to use. Cheers Mark

Hi All, it’s been quite a while since I’ve managed to do any modelling due to the requirements of work and everyday life. So I was happy when I got the opportunity to do some over the last few days. I started with doing some weathering on the cruciform. For this I used some VMS products for the first time. I used pigments, 2.0 Enml and universal carrier fluids. To help me get started I watched a couple of the VMS how too’s on YT. I have to say that I’m well impressed. It’s so easy to create a very realistic effect. The first pics show WIP. It’s a case of starting grubby and then working it back until you achieve the look you want. A couple of days later I was able to get back to the workroom. I was a little worried as to if you really could pick it up from where you left it and continue the process. Well the answer is yes. I managed to reduce the level of mud down to a level i'm happy with. I then started to do a bit of work on the worn through to bare metal. Again it's back to VMS. This time 12B zero pigment and the 2.0Enml to make a paste. You then paint it on and let it dry. Then pick up a cotton bud and start buffing and right infront of your eyes burnished bare metal effect. Then i popped on the main gun assembly to see how it's looking so far, and here it is: We have a 4 - day holiday weekend coming up so i'm looking forward to some decent model room time.....watch this space. Cheers Mark

I can't take all of the credit on this update, the floor really goes to the VMS products. They are fantastic. For the seats, it's really easy. First lay down a coat of acrylic iraqi sand or equivalent. Let if fully dry for 24 hours. Then i got some burnt umber oil paint and brushed it on. Then take a flat brush, with a whiff of thinners on it and drag it lightly across the surface to create a woodgrain effect. Leave well alone until it dries.....job done!

Yep, the VMS black is great. I use it on bare metal and gun metal parts all the time.

Mark, superb work on this and the dirt buildup on the legs and gun mount is extremely realistic.

Wowsers, thanks to you all for your feedback, I'm blown away. I'm really enjoying experimenting with the VMS products. Your comments have given my modelling mojo a huge top up and now counting down the hours until the long long weekend. Sorry SWMBO, looks like you might be a bit of a modelling widow this weekend On a separate note, I've received supplies from some vendors on Aliexpress, so I'm going to kick off the diorama for Tiger build this weekend. Keep an eye out for an update. Have an awesome day everyone. Cheers Mark
