Greetings All... For my initial thread on these boards after my introduction, I wanted to post one showing some of my work up until now. While this will be neither comprehensive nor detailed, I hope it shows a good range of the projects I've completed and illustrates my progression (or lack thereof) over the past 20+ years. One of my largest projects was completed immediately after my military retirement in 2004 – a DML PzKpfw IVc with a scratch-built Bruckenleger “b”. This build was ultimately featured in an April 2011 article in FSM magazine.
My only automotive subject (non-military) was in 2006 when our club built a group project for the IPMS Nationals depicting Elliot Sadler's flip (the car I built) on the backstretch of the Talladega speedway.
The last major project from my “early years” was a diorama I constructed in 2008 in honor of my grandfather's WWII service with the 104th Infantry Division. It depicted the liberation and defense of Lucherburg, Germany by the 104th ID as well as several support units.
Shortly after this time I rejoined the workforce in a job that was very rewarding (and lucrative), but also extremely time-consuming and stressful, bringing my model building to near zero. Even after fully retiring in late 2012, it took another couple years before I really started getting back into things. Here's a rapid-fire, one per year, recap of some of my builds between 2015 and 2020. A scratch-built Dragon Tank from the James Bond movie, Doctor No.
An M4A3W(76) in a rare camouflage pattern.
A Marder II D.
An Early Panther G.
A Type 1 Ho-Ni SPG.
A SdKfz 251-1 Ausf C, Riveted version.
With just 6 weeks or so left in this year, I'll forego posting an “annual” thread as seems the custom. The next build I start will undoubtedly stretch into the new year before completion and will therefore be perfect to kick off my first full year of builds in the forum with a 2022 thread.
Until next time...

Hey Robert, man I'm glad to see you here with your tremendous builds. The Lucherburg diorama which depicts the action of the 104th ID got my attention in particular as the Timberwolves saw their first action in my neighbourhood, a couple of villages further. It was called Wuustwezel (where they releaved the Polar Bears after heavy resistance of the Germans) . I know of a story on Timberwolves' first night patrol @in the surroundings of that place. The night was pitchblack and the non experienced soldiers had decided to put a white piece of cloth on their haversacks in order to not to lose each other in the dark. The Germans however got them poor boys targeted and some of them were killed by gunfire. Later on the 104th crossed the Belgian/Dutch border and advanced into Zundert, also nearby the place I live. There's a Timberwolves museum to bring honour. They became hardened and fierce fighters in the south of Holland and the Ardennes, if I'm not mistaking Hürtgen forest?
Great to have you here brotha.

Thanks for that, AG.
I was aware of the museum over there and bought the book of their unit history, "Timberwolf Tracks" while researching the diorama. I'm sure the story you've recounted is in there somewhere, but it's been so long since I read it, I can't be sure.
My grandfather was mainly attached to one of the division's artillery units and served as a forward observer during much of the action through that part of Europe. However, as the enemy collapsed and artillery less needed, he was frequently moved to patrol duty. I have two trophies he brought back from their action around Cologne...a full size flag with all of the their names and the Germans who they captured written on it as well as a bolt-action Mauser.
Thanks again for looking in...

Beautiful work Robert! I remember almost all of them too! That bridgelayer tank is so much better in person; pics do not do it justice. This rocks man!
