Cheers fellas, I've been working away on the figures using magic sculpt to add new uniforms and now just have the commanders arms to finish off. I also gave him some nice hornet hands. Not much of them will actually be seen once in place but the obvious details have been added.

As usual I've taken a break from the build to concentrate on the figures. To this end I've now started the camo painting. The Aussie camo is quite interesting and I believe this particular pattern was/is called kangaroo ears due to the shape of some of the pattern. I used vallejo colours here starting with 819 Iraqi sand with a drop of 821 German camo beige for the base. The green is 857 golden olive, the two browns are 875 beige brown & 981 orange brown and the black is 862 black grey. Refs are essential for this and I happen to have a set of Aussie combats in my collection which I used to get the correct colours and to use as a guide to paint the pattern. The back of the driver was painted to test the results and I'm very pleased with it so far.

Pete, do you have a note of the mix ratios on the Tan base? I have the AK AUSCAM set but It just is not woking for me no matter what I try with pressure , distance etc. Need a better option for my planned Leo AS1 P

Paul no I don't have any exact mix ratios for the tan base I just mixed it until it looked right to me, I did use tamiya flat flesh, flat earth & white and started with the flesh adding small amounts of the earth then white.
