Pete, Steve, cheers chaps Well as said yesterday, she was primed this morning and base coated 10minutes ago . Primer was good Tamiya rattle can, the base coat is Tamiya XF-1 matt black. I must say I do not like spraying a model in black, it looks awful and is going to take quite a bit of work to make it look decent . Tomorrow I shall give this first coat a swipe with micro mesh or similar, it needs cutting back as to my eye it appears a bit furry. Then a good clean and the next blackage will go on

I quite often use a fine cutting cloth from Halfords overthe first coats for purely that reason of losing the pigment/fuzz etc..........a gentle rub back makes it look like grey or black kit plastic again

Cheers Boots mucker, that is what I thought also. Halfords cutting cloth I can't get, but I have a supply of Micro Mesh (3600, 4000, 6000, 8000 and 12000) which was kindly given to me by Joe . There's enuff there to last a lifetime ( cheers Joe ) Anyway, cut back tomorrow and back in with maybe a mix of Vallejo blacks, yes I said blacks as they have many of them and possibly some of their dark greys also. I must remember to mix enuff, so I don't bloody run out halfway through

Cheers Ian . The base coat has been reapplied . This time I went with Vallejo 71.051 Black, 71.004 Azur Blue and 70.470 Gloss Medium. The ratio of black to blue was 10 parts black and 2 parts blue, then a good dollop of gloss and the usual thinner and flow improver . This looks much better and not sooty as it was before. More hopefully tomorrow Sires

Nice mate, even in the pictures I can see there is a big difference in the two blacks you've sprayed. The new one looks much better.
