Time to open the box of my entry here. Got this cheap of the web and I'm glad I did. It's a flash monster, the moulds are very worn. It's also a kit of its time so details are very poor too. So scored this off eBay for a tenner. It should be fine so long as I don't need to speak with Airfix's customer service Gestapo! This also has some flash and mould misalignment, especially around the right upper fuselage, needed a bit of scrapping with a new blade, but being new it has more detail. Started with the main assemblies and bang seat. One error Airfix made with this kit is with the fin is incorrect, all they did was add the RWR and forgot to increase the height of the fairing. Esci got this closer decades ago to fettled that one to fit this one. Here's the Airfix part over the Esci My modified one

Been working on the office this weekend, took some pics which make everything look rubbish when enlarged on the screen I've gone for a used look. I figure if the GR9's I used to see were so greasy a fighting aircraft would be the same. Seat with some etch from the spares box and Citadel paint. Just some Tamiya tape to add to the etch harness and careful tan paint then I'm done there. Office sidewalls with decals, again from the spares box, Citadel paint and dark oily wash. You can't see any of the pin marks when tubs fitted, well done Airfix! Cockpit tub and IP I'm least happy with, I'm going to add another raised panel to the centre IP and put another decal on it. The Airfix one just doesn't look right to me. Where's the moving map?
Working away from home most of the week so nothing more until next weekend

A busy pic. Taken from further away as I'm fed up with close up pics making my work look terrible Primer and preshade ready for Dark Sea Grey on the airframe, after the last bit of clean up. I cut the rear stabilisers off as there was a large gap caused by the way Airfix has you fit them. They were then glued straight to the rear fuse..gap gone! RAF Dark Green on the gun pod, pylons and front nozzles. I've modified one of the gun pods into a Blue Eric ECM pod, also green. External fuel tanks are Extra Dark Sea Grey which is the RN colour. I don't know if any RAF aircraft flew with these but I like the mix of colours this will give. Rocket pods are the silver colour RN 2" three row type from the spares box (from my failed Airfix Phantom!) as the kit supplied items are the SNEB RAF pods which weren't cleared for use on the decks of the carrier as the ship's radars could set them off . Seat is detailed and ready to go in. The white thing is my pattern for the FOD guards that I'm making. The handle is to help me trial fit this then plunge mould the final things. Just wanted to prove that this was still on the bench and being fettled , when time allows
