Righto I've been given special permission to kick this off a bit early by the powers that be 1/350 Tamiya IJN Yamato, this is not the premium edition, I'm not that rich. This basic one retails at around the ÂŁ70 to ÂŁ80 mark but I was given this by a modeller who's health means he can no longer build this sort of thing, so I'm going to try and do a good job for him Got a wooden deck as I've never tried one of these, normally wouldn't entertain this sort of cost but as the kit cost nothing I thought why not give it a go Kicking off real soon but will not be a quick build so stay tuned for some fun if you're into this sort of thing

Very nice indeed and that deck will enhance the kit no end. Always fancied doing a big battleship myself. For the rigging you can't go wrong with some of that special rigging elastic. I have some 0.3mm stuff and it's brilliant.

Biggest thing I've attempted Got some of that rigging in two different thicknesses I was sorting out the sprues and a few bits jumped out and stuck themselves straight on, honest I drilled the holes through the hull onto the base wood, going to need some long thin screw

All over this ........yeah rigging elastic or EZ line for the riggin` fella..........and i`d be inclined to do plenty of dry fit regarding the wooden deck just to be on the safe side Grand start mate...........despite it escaping from the box
Was you not doing this for the `Rising Sun GB` mucker??.........only asked coz you have it in the general Ships and floaty section

Yeah mate Paul said start it and he would move it later. It's going to take a fair while to build so I got permission to start it early.
There will be a lot of dry fitting Boots, don't you worry. I'm very nervous about the deck
First thing trying to get my head around is how to attach the hull to the base.

Right two things
First the little brass posts the ship sits will not be man enough to hold a ship of this size. The one in the kit gives you 4 points to hold the ship instead of 2
Second thing. Could get any hull red and there wasn’t a space for it in the rack either so I got a Revell colour I think looks similar. Has anyone got a colour chart with Revell and Tamiya that I can look at

I've just been and changed it as I got a gloss. I'll have a look at how bright it is, It doesn't look any brighter that that used on the Enterprise
