Thank you, Pete. I made a start today. Anybody who's made a Tamiya 1/48th piece of armour, knows they like to add a bit of weight, by adding a lump of metal inside it. Added weight for realism! (Apparently). It's the same for this kit. Two flat pieces of metal are held in place by a plastic bracket each end, glued to the lower hull. (Or should I say, fore & aft). Before gluing the two bits of metal in to the hull, two captive nuts are added (see photo of instructions ), held in place with a plastic cap glued on top. These are to secure the model to the stand. I wonder if there's a formula for working out the scale weight of object? π€ The only maths I ever bothered about, was working out my overtime!

Scale weight! I always like that idea for tanks as it helps them sit level sometimes. I enjoyed reading the history you posted on this, Joe.

Nice one, Tommy. π I've given the lower, and top hull sections a thin coat of primer, as well as the main spure. Tomorrow, I'll paint the lower hull with a coat of anti fouling red.

Boots, Paul, Guy & Tommy. Cheers me hearties. π Tommy, anti fouling paint is to help stop the growth of barnacles and other marine organisms on a ship's bottom. I painted the lower hull, and a few bits still on the sprue. The other two bits are used on the base the sub is mounted on.
