Gentlemen, your amazing comments are well appreciated, thanks for that! Seems I'm on a (temporary) roll I lightly weathered the interior using Raw Umber oil paint. Basically some sort of pinwash blended in. I also decided to do some very light chipping. With a brush I painted the chipping, the color used was Ammo Flat Aluminium. Quite hard to get the tiny cockpit completely in focus on the photos The pedals still need to be installed. Currently I'm blocking in the basecolors for the pilot. And when the chap is finished I can put him in his seat and close the office

This looks outstanding, Wouts! I was amazed at how much stuff was packed into a Zero interior. The tubs really look impressive once you get everything installed.

Brilliant paintwork fella B) As for the paint mix, once you take the scale effect and wear into account I bet it's spot on to the eye

Chaps, many thanks. And Steve, you are right, with scale effect and all it should come closer to reality indeed. Now then, the part I dreaded: the pilot. I think adding a figure to a model always adds a sense of scale and brings it more to life. Although I don't often add figures to my models I decided to do so this time. I mean, uncle Tamiya adds them to the box so why not use them ey. Some seam lines needed to be removed, but other than that, the figure doesn't look too shabby. It's by all means no Alpine figure but still, good enough. So paintwork then...I'm quite inexperienced here so things could go tits up....luckily that didn't happen . Paintwork of a figure can make or break the model. If you paint the figure in a toyish way, and the model realistic you end up with....well, something which isn't right. I hope I managed to stray away from the toy look. I let you chaps be the judges of that, but I'm quite happy. Some good music on the background seemed to have worked lol First: toy look figure: the basecolors blocked in: After a couple of hours we ended up with this Tamiya provides some decals for the figures so I might add some to the pilot later on.

Thanks a lot gents Well then, the pilot just needed two more things: a couple of decals, one on the right arm, on top of it's cap. Needless to say that the one on the arm will be pretty much invisible There's some very little silvering, so will need to address that. And the two halves of the fuselage are glued together. Typical uncle Tamiya style, simple but ingenious and very effective. Practically falls together. And I test fitted the cockpit (it slots in from the underside) just to see how it looks. I also dryfitted the wings and the cowling, just to get that 'Zero' look for the first time in the hobbyroom. I drilled out the two nose MG's...just to find out that when you place the cowling pretty much none of it can be seen

Thanks a lot gents for the comments chaps, means a lot ^^.
I have a couple of questions regarding colours.
First, about the IJN green colour for the uperside of the wings and fuselage. I don't have a dedicated IJN colour in the stash at the moment. But I do have some greens (mainly Tammi and Mr. Colour) like Nato Green, Olive Drab, Bright Green, and the German RLM greens. Could I get away with mix from some of those?
Second: so if I'm not mistaken the wheel wells and interior side of the well covers was metallic blue? I was thinking of painting a layer of Alclad Aluminium and on top of that either a thin layer of Tamiya Clear Blue or Royal Blue, would you guys think that could do the trick?
Cheers

About the blue. That’s basically what I did.
Can’t help about the green though.
