1/48th Italeri RAAF P-40N

WHAT!!...........with pistols ya mean

Paul, Boots---no fighting in here!   Well, the P-40N is done and although an older kit she did build up into a respectable depiction of a P-40. I used the kit windscreen but the hood and rear section were the Squadron Vacu-Form canopy sections. I added some metal chipping to the prop and to the rest of the airplane. I added the white over-spray on the prop blades where they meet the spinner, as shown in the photo of the real aircraft. I added a heavy Sand Pigment application to the wheels and undersides of the plane as she looked pretty grubby in the photo as well. I painted the .50 cal baddies with MIG Gun Metal. The 500 pound bombs and drop tank were attached and these also received a Sand pigment application and some more washes to dirty them up. The plane was then given a coat of Testors Dullcote and the antenna wire was added. The nav lights were painted using Tamiya Clear Red and Blue. The plane depicted is an RAAF P-40N from seasoned 79 Squadron, based out of Noemfoor Island.

The weathering on the white and all over for that matter is stupendous.
