That Tamiya polishing stuff is a bit dear, can't you use some car polish? You'll get a lot more of it

I wouldn't know myself, that is something the shiny builders must answer Ian. But for the way the Tamiya stuff works, specially on clear plastic, it goes a hell of a long way as you only need very small amounts.

It doesn't go hard once opened Paul like some tube filler?
I'm tearing my hair out with superglue at the mo, it either goes thick or I can't get the flipping top off the bottle

Up to 10000 is absolutely fine.....i`d start about 6000 anything lower may be a bit course, however i personally start a little bit courser with a 3600.......if it goes slightly back to primer in places it doesn`t matter, i always lay down 5-6 thin coats and i get finer as i go thru the paint passes, i was saying to robbo in one of the threads that 12000 is like silk and merely for the very last part. 10000 is plenty smooth enough fella...make sure you wet it if you use the sticks or cloths.......hth
I mostly use a compound cloth from Halfords motor spares........it`s like a very thin sponge with a slight texture one side and soft sponge the other.........don`t know if they still do it as i`m down the last bit, i`ve had it for ages and it`s the nuts for smoothing down `tween coats.
Nice laydown with that Black

Thanks for the help and advice, guys. Went with Boots routine and painted six layers of X1. Only used the sanding stick after layers 2 and 4, though. Started on the interior. I am thinking plush brown leather with just a bit of wear.

Thats a nice looking shine ya got there Tommy If you are laying down a dark colour i.e. Blacks, Dark Blues, Greys etc you can probably get away with maybe 4 thin passes just to avoid build up over detail.........i tend to go more thinner coats i.e 6 when using the paler colours, this normally is needed if using a Grey primer and you need to flush that greyness out.....otherwisea white primer helps, forgot to mention....my bad!!

Thanks Robbo, bwilt and Paul.
Yes, it’s from the Lifecolor leather set. I sprayed Tamiya red brown first, as I still had some left in the can.
