After crumbling like a cookie under Ian H's integration, here we go.. Trumpeter's 1\48 JF-17 It won't be the green PAF aircraft on the box, not keen on that. I'm thinking of either a two tone grey PAF or a what-if from one of the counties that have expressed an interest in the type. And here's the canopy seam mentioned in the other thread Why does this happen? The canopy is injected between two moulds to create the Omega bubble shape, if they didn't the canopy would have flat sides
More soon..

Yes, and a front row seat too . It'll be interesting and a learning curve to watch you sort that canopy out Steve

A canopy like this one with the seam would be hell to me to solve. You however will tackle it like it's nothing. I'm in.

As always I did a bit of research and found that there is a detonation cord in the canopy so do I need to remove the seam? Unfortunately yes was the answer as Trumpy moulded it on both sides and it should only be on the inside. So not only did I have to remove a seam but not there's the wingything modeller's other canopy nightmare.. to paint det cords.. The moulding seam went down the windscreen too and it should not be there either so two to do. Firstly, new blade in the scalpel. Then scrape lightly down the seam using only the weight of the knife and the part of the blade that's closest to the handle. This stops it juddering and jumping. Remember to go right up to the canopy frame. Keep going until you can't feel a lip when you run your fingernail over it. At this time I also remove and sprue tabs and edge flash with my fine diamond file. Be careful how you hold the parts, clear plastic is brittle and if it cracks it's game over. Then using Micromesh 3600 wetted with soapy water, start to gently sand the area you scrapped to put the curve back and remove the scalpel marks as pic above.
Move onto MM8000 dry and polish in a circular motion, go over all of the previous area until you can start to see through it.
Same again with MM12000 Lastly I use my favourite polishing compound.. I've had this bottle for a few years. Many kits and a few cars and it's still half full Polish using your choice of compound until full clarity is restored. Then wash in warm soapy water one last time and dry with soft tissue. Done!

Cheers Ian. I thought I'd do these first as it it didn't work out I hadn't invested too much time or money! Very prudent move, sir! Yes, that would really be demoralizing to get the whole thing 99% done and then shatter the canopy.
