Top job on the cockpit! Isn't it a sad moment when you find out that almost nothing is visible after you close the fuselage? I definitely want to see the next update.

Ian, doing my ultimate best on it chap! Jkb, thanks, in this case with the super detailed Quinta decals which are totally new to me, yes that hurts a bit to be honest. Steve, I think I picked the most ideal kit there is to introduce myself to the world of plane building. Paul, thanks for the supportive words as they keep me motivated. Joe, the fit of this Tammy is excellent! Da bombs are pretty omnipresent on this airplane. More bombasticness in the pipeline. Have a nice Sunday chaps!

It certainly is a well engineered kit, Guy. Itβs coming along handsomely.

Guy, looks excellent! Just a head's up----if you are doing a Vietnam era SPAD, I am not sure they carried that style of bomb. They did carry the M57 and M64 bomb from WW2 (which is what is in your photo and) but they put a different tail fin configuration on them. I believe they went to a conical four fin configuration which they could just tack on to the WW2 section of the bomb. I will have to take a look at that kit but if I remember correctly a lot of the ordnance Tamiya provided was for Korean War era ADs. Same goes for the M117s and M118s carried by the -105s and B-52s. The bomb part itself was WW2 era but new conical tail fins were added. Mk. 82s, 84s, Mk-117s, napalm canisters, CBUs and rocket pods would be a safe bet.

I think this is the one area of the Tamiya Navy Spad that draws comment, the war load is closer to Korea service as Ian said. The loadout with the kit supplied rocket pods, minguns and mine dispenser tubes are for an Air Force version with camo so they are in the box but not on the instructions. All's not lost though, in the early part of the carrier war a right mix of ordinance was used, even WWII leftovers. There's an idea, big bomb on the centreline (the fin is close enough), twin fuel tanks on the wings like the top pic, then use the smaller ones on the outer wing like the bottom one. I think the silver item is a flare? Also in the pic are stores Ian mentioned too. For reference only

Nice find, Steve. That's a great pic of #581 with the M64 with the original WW2 fin configuration. Guy, don't know what jet kits you have in your stash, but some Monogram, HB and Trumpeter kits have some of the more current 'Nam ordnance in them. And Eduard offers all of them in the Brassin range.

Some great knowledge drifting thru here Absolutely!!! Guys I suppose I can use these canisters as I spotted them on this Vietnam Era photo? Only for reference purposes. I have these in the kit.

I can't find a single photo of a US Navy bird with the canisters attached to the wings, ferk it's not easy with all those different era bombs! I guess I'll go with the wing drop tanks and the big bomb under the fuselage then.

I believe those canisters or tubes are actually rocket launchers Guy . Guess we'll have to wait a tad for Ian or Steve to drop in again, to clarify the usage of them.
