A few years ago i built the Scammell wrecker from IBG......i then purchased the Thunder models Pioneer, however the TM`s version gave me a real fight regarding the lower winch and the rear deck fitting..........so much so........it hit the wall....literally!!!.
After sweeping all the remnants into the box somat made me put it in the loft rather than the bin, as much as i was gutted i didn`t have the heart to throw it away as a sudden `future plan` moment arose. After painstakingly re-building the chassis, engine parts, suspension etc i managed to get her back as a rolling chassis.....however.....the rear deck supports, winch etc were obliterated during it`s flying lesson.
I have decided to do this a a post war civilian vehicle instead of the usual WWII vehicle, the vehicle was purchased after the war and put into civvy service..........i`m going to do her retired stylee .........i`m not going for an abandoned rust bucket but more of a left standing in the corner of the yard admiring the newer replacements look Sooooo.............i made a start on her a week ago and here`s where i`m at...
I scratch built a rear deck frame plus half scratched the winch (only the top bit survived) and run some cable thru to the rear hook, i`m not to worried about accuracy as most of it is hidden once the deck is on anyway.....but from the side it gives a rough representation.
Sorry this might be a bit pic heavy
I used my previously built Scam as a guide anlongside a set of calipers to get the correct height........i was about 1mm to high on the first attempt so i started again............this is now perfick for my liking..

Now the next problem i encountered was the cab roof.........i want a single cab for this particular plan but the pioneer is a one piece roof from front to rear..........so some saw surgery was required ..........and all went reasonably well, i`m also in the process of re-doing the rear cab wall.

I do like a spirit level that doesn`t lie .........at least it proves i fix everything correctly.

More soon and thanks chaps.

Thanks chaps Bert....wasn`t sure if you`d seen it before but here`s a link to the whole caboodle mho.freeforums.net/thread/326/boots-completed-scammellA bit more fettling..... On the level again!!........the deck still sits fine but the cab drops slightly at the rear (hence the long bit of white stuff underneath it to bring it level...A brace has been made under the cab and it now sits perfect with the rear deck.
Also made a start on the rear deck sides.......
  More soon

Thanks Tommy Ok chaps......a bit more, decided to go with a wooden floor..........who ever invented wooden coffee stirrers was a genius , i`ve also beefed up the base for the crane and added some Meng bolt detail.

Next stage will be the building of the stowage lockers for the rear deck and adding a tailgate...
Cheers folks
