Ok chaps, I'll spray on Vallejo black primer for the first time, I'm used to Tamiya's unhealthy fumes.

Nice looking office mate. And that sure starts to look like a sexy Mustang I never liked the Vallejo primers, fingers crossed all goes well. Really looking forward to see this bird painted and weathered!

Nice looking office mate. And that sure starts to look like a sexy Mustang I never liked the Vallejo primers, fingers crossed all goes well. Really looking forward to see this bird painted and weathered! Wouter I always use Tamiya paints for their fantastic flow combined with laquer thinner but the smell, the unhealthy fumes...that's why I'm experimenting with Vallejo starting today. Here's what I experienced being a Vallejo noob : The black surface primer 70602 had to be thinned as it began to clog in my airbrush, with spattering paint and not so controllable action. I thinned it with 71261 airbrush thinner. It still wasn't good enough. I added a couple of drops of Reducer 63066 and I think the primer came out a lot better. But...still not as fluid as Tamiya stuff. It must be me lacking practicing with the Vallejo products. I keep trying ! This is the combo with the Reducer.
Btw I cleaned the airbrush with laquer thinner.ππ Tomorrow metal colours.

Yeah, it's quite carcinogenic stuff, those Tammi paints and the lacquer thinners. But with a mask and a some filters and the distractor it's quite alright. Vallejo stuff is much more difficult. I had some ok results years ago by mixing Vallejo's airbrush cleaner into the paint or primer. Good to see the Flying horse in it's dark primer coat. Now the magic commences

Well Wouterbro, I had to apply gloss primer but this is more of a satin ish one. I rubbed it gently with a tissue and it seems to feel a bit smoother now. Thinning paint with cleaner, a modeller has to try everything to make things workπ

I've just tested the Vallejo Aluminium paint and what a difference in spraying compared with the black primer! Fantastic result imo.

This looks great, Guy! I really do like Vallejo Aluminum. My favorite silver paint to use, so far.

I`ve used the alu colour many a time and i wish every paint sprayed like that!!......leaves a fabulous finish , not tried their primers tho but the other few colours i have spray pretty well to the Vallejo Steel sprays great as well , funny you mention the tissue smoothing......i use Halfords rubbing cloths, it`s a sort of thin sponge with one side slightly courser than the other.......and i`ve used tissue as well, just takes that course pigment feel out. Top work sir

I use Vallejo as well. They are good in many ways but the thinning is..... well lets just say a nuclear scientist wouldn't come up with a proper type..... πππ€£ Looking good. I'm sure paint will pop out great.

Great aluminum coloring, armorguy.
As it happens, I just got some VMS airbrush thinner and sprayed some flesh tones with it. Did actually spray, not perfect but as a first attempt it was okay.

The aluminium plaint does look rather nice AG. It'll be interesting to see how well it masks over that primer, hope all goes well buddy

Looking good, Guy. I use a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver which I find helps.

Joe, it's the flow improver I'll order. Top tip!
Steve, it covers very solid I think, masking however will be something I have to do with care.
Tommy, that's an incentive and efficient solution then chap!
John, the Aluminium was not thinned.π
