Cheers all. Got so.e blo k colour on it last night. The satin finish is a happy accident for the gondola as it seems to match photos of the real thing. The swirly bits are going to be fun, particularly on the seat back, but I have an idea or two on all of that. Any hook, where were at:

Oh yes!!! That will be great fun to paint.
You could even add more flowers to it to add extra texture.
What will you use for water?

FUN.... ? ... what you talkin' 'bout Willis? I have managed to purloin a surplus pair of surgeons operating loops from work ( with bosses permission...) so hopefully that will help Extra Flowers- jury's out Water- I've got a few options; Woodland Scenic's, Vallejo still water or AK part. I've had them all for a while and both the WS and Vallejo have previously been opened so I'll need to check to see if they are still usable. Ill bring some to work tomorrow and try an experiment or two

How are you painting flowers? They've had a couple of light washes with white acrylic so far just to block them in but I'm planning on an enamel wash over a gloss coat to add colour possibly a rust tone for an orange tinge... then pick out some greenery around the bottom... well that the idea in my head anyhow🤔

Picked up some AK liquid metalic pens to try out on this. Cooper used for the baubles atop the posts and Gold gor the details on the upholstery tip size on the pens means a bit of tidy up required, but a steady hand should keep it to a minimum. A dark wash should help make all of the relevant details pop. The 2 bits on the bottom are still to be added to the seats, so for a bit of contrast I went with copper.

Those pens look like a good investment

I used chrome pens for the Yamato letters, not AK though

Neutral greywash applied to the upholstery. Dulled the blue somewhat, but has picked ip the detail in the gold piping. Happy with that overall. Copperdetails added, so construction all-but complete. Coffin brasswork needs to be picked out and flowers finished Hopefully later today. I was going to try and pick out the swirly details in the bow and stern "decks" in a contrasting colour, but Im more inclined to go for gentle dry-brush instead. Not sure my eyes or patience could cope with anything else tbh. I've got a trial pour of Woodland Scenics water curing off , so all going well I might get the water layer down sometime tomorrow. In the meantime:

I let everything cure off for about 2 days and thereby (hopefully) seal the base. Went back and re-poured- no problems this time, so poured on to the base propper (after sealing this time...), but leaving it under cover for a couple of more days to make absoloutely sure it all cures off before some final detail painiting to the casket and flowers. Had a quick gander this morning and its looking promising. I'll take a pic or 2 later.
