Thanks all.
Back to work. I figured the turret would be the trickiest part so I hit it first. The turret shell is probably plywood. I doubt they made any real changes to the tank. It looks like they removed the arms from the stereoptic range finders so the shell would fit. Going by the photos, I used a Sharpie to mark common details as reference points. I used wide masking tape and cardstock to make templates for the top and side. The front...that was alot of test fitting and trimming. Then alot of sanding.
For a barrel I used a long 88 I had in the spares. The prop tank's barrel looks longer than a 105mm. It may be the tank's original 105 with the fume extractor removed...I don't know. I'll probably remove the muzzle break. I'm still mulling that one around in head a bit.
I still have to work up the hull side storage boxes. As a personal preference, I really think the storage boxes look better than clipping tools to the side. I may be wrong, but I think the Netherlands is the only Leo 1 operator that does that. Thumbs up on that.
That leaves Schurzen, camo netting, and finish assembly. Oh the kit doesn't come with spare track. And it looks like they used track to cover where the rear of the shell meets the turret sides. I might ave something that can pass the 10 meter eye test in my Track Spares Box. The schurzen is actually basically mocked up with cardstock and just needs me to transfer it to sheet styrene. Camo net will just be surgical gauze "dye" green with thinned acrylic. Paint shouldn't be too bad. It looks like overall sandstone with green...I'm colorblind but it looks green. And markings 711 and crosses. Probably will have to hand paint the numbers...kinda large.
Oh and the mantlet cover. Almost forgot that.
So it's coming along pretty good. Hopefully I'll have this one wrapped up by the end of the month.

Very clever and unusual, looks to be a faithful representation of the film vehicles.

I went ahead and wrapped up most of the assembly. I still have to work up the commander's MG...the kit one is bad. I have overlooked the spotlight mounts on the mantlet. It looks like the schurzen is one solid piece (plywood probably) and had slots cut to bolt on using the factory mounts. But yeah she's basically done and ready for paint. So she'll be put in the corner until a good day comes around for paint. It's been really rainy here.
Quick question, anyone make a 1/35 film equipment set? Just playing around with some ideas I probably won't follow through with. I didn't see anything on some google searching. If there was a set I might try to work up a "in-production dio". If it comes to scratch building...that idea may be on the back burner. I always thought about doing a tongue in cheek movie based dio but the equipment has been the major holdup.

Like it a lot very nice work. As for film equipment there are some sets with figures but are mostly WW2 era or modern iraqi/ middle est figures with video cameras.

Alex, fantastic job depicting the movie mods to the tank. In answer to your film question, Verlinden (well, pretty sure it was Verlinden) made a cameraman/reporter set many moons ago. However, I can't remember if it was the reel-to-reel camera like you would see in the 70s and 80s or a VHS type set-up. Two figures.....camera person with the unit on their shoulder and then the reporter or producer standing there. I haven't seen it in several years, however.

Anyway...I've got a big important question about the ABTF Leopard. The more I look at it the more messed up it gets for me.
What color is this thing?
I'm colorblind and this one is giving a problem. I shot a coat of Tamiya Dark Yellow (xf60) and it looks too yellow...but it always does for me. I was looking to set up the camo and noticed the film stills and video clip doesn't have the multi color scheme. The only shot of it having multicolor camo is one still...that side view with the turret reversed. So the more I looked the more uncertain I became about the actual color....light tan? light gray? The color quality of the stills and clips isn't helping. Any help from you normal color sighted people would be a big help.
