Hi Alex, I would say the base colour is some kind of light grey and the stripes are defo green. But that only goes for the pictures you have shown us. This picture of the fake Panther in front of a house, appears to have been weathered. It could be a sand colour, or a lighter grey than the base coat, or a faded tan which has been sprayed on. Also the greeen stripes are missing, at least to my eye, on this vehicle.

Thanks all.
I've got it painted overall Dark Yellow. I had attributed the light gray to the photo quality, but the more I looked it really got hard for me to tell. I still am not sure what color I'll go with. I might just weather the bajeebus out of the dark yellow. I think I have a tin of IDF Sinai Gray that kind of looks like it to me. I thought about that but I don't know. I get the feeling I'll be making a hobby store run for a tin of sand. That's probably the safe color choice.
BTW Tommy thanks for the rear turret shot. That helps me with quite a few things.
I did see a model built of it...1/72 scale I think. They went with sandstone.
I'll sit on it a bit and decide on it in a few days.

Sinai Grey could be a good option, I was thinking of RLM 02 .

No problem Alex. I have the movie recorded so if you need any other angles I will see what I can find.

So after some consultations with my spiritual advisor...I've decided to go with the Tamiya Dark Yellow. To me it seems sort of fitting for this vismod...I mean if Richard Attenborough was fine with..."the Panther" then I think I'm good with Dark Yellow. In all seriousness, I think it fits with the "novelty" of this particular visual representation of the Panther for this film.
So I'll dig up some markings and finish this build up...this week or next.
And thanks for the feedback on the camera sets. I thought I had mentioned that but didn't. I might try to add a behind the scenes style dio at some point. It's an idea I've played with before but never pulled the trigger on. I was just going to do the gray Patton as a vismod but...I think the Panther may work better. It's so obvious that it sort of speaks for itself. I'll focus on finishing this as a standalone for the GB and work on the dio as a side project when time allows. I think I can have a lot of fun with it.

Coming along nicely I must say and the colour variations on different picture are strange. Maybe caused by bright light?

I thought I was done but...I forgot to paint the periscopes. I'll probably post the finished pics up tomorrow.
On the subject of Leopanthers...was this in ABtF? Maybe another WW2 movie? More of a curiosity than any thing at this point....and it looks pretty cool.
Anyway...tomorrow

Technically it is tomorrow for me so....
Overall Tamiya Dark Yellow. I added a surgical gauze net to the engine deck and front. I just dipped them in a a thinned green paint mix, took them out and let them dry. Rolled them up and used thinned clear pva glue set them in place. I had to add the spare tracks. It looks like they used the track to hide the joint where the turret add-on ended on the sides. The spare track came from the spares and...I don't know what they are actually for...Esci M60 maybe. I drybrushed it with field grey. Decals came from the spares. The baggage up by the smoke launchers are tissue paper/pva glue. The rear lights...they look like they painted over them in the screen shots. So I kind of backed off that one a bit.
I did enjoy this build. As snarky as I want to be about the prop department....I have to give it to them. Sure...Kelly's Heroes had a smaller budget and gave us a better effort with the T(34)iger...two of them actually. There's a quaintness with these attempts at practical effects. Even Fury...they used the tanks whereas they could have simply used CGI for battles and stuff.
So I will probably recycle the Leopard into something else. I do want to do the movie set dio at some point. However, I want to be more...tongue in cheek with it...and I don't want to do that with a classic movie like ABtF. So that'll work its way out on its own. But I was thinking about a few ideas with the Leopard. It looks pretty cool with a Sheridan turret. But no hurryon that...I have a few builds in the works I really want to finish. I haven't been finishing projects for the past few years.

ALex, well done my friend, that looks spot on to my eye As for the recycling of the Leo, have you thought about a Jagd-Leopard? I saw this the other day on Facebook and I must admit, it got me thinking, I have even been looking for cheap Leopard 2 kits .

Great work Alex. I think you captured the look just right.
As for your picture,Paul. A tank that could not hit anything and can you imagine the problems when the end of the barrel went in the mud!!!!

Thanks.
I bought the Tammy kit for a privateer tank. I have a finished Italeri Leo 1 I might convert over to a privateer tank instead. So I'm pretty open on fate of the Tammy Leo 1. The more I think on it, I'm thinking about using it for the movie idea but extend the flat panels the entire length of the turret. It's definitely an idea and ...maybe...we'll see.
But to be honest, that JagdLeo 2 looks amazing. The guy did an amazing job. The way he moved the turret front to the bow...perfect...so perfect I have a Hobby Boss Leo 2 on my display shelf that is getting nervous right now. I see Tommy's concern. And, I'd add the crew would be in a reclined position...like the driver. You'd have to have an auto-loader. It does look good though.
Speaking of...I'd suggest any of the Hobby Boss Leo 2s. There's a bunch of them and they are pretty well priced, they look pretty good, and they usually have a few extra parts. The Revell Leo 2 may be cheaper over yonder than it is here. You could probably pick one up at a show for cheap. I hope you build it.

Awesome job with this, Alex, and you really captured the look of the vehicle from the film. Excellent conversion, indeed!
